This was my first time visiting Madrid, the Royal Palace is a MUST SEE attraction if you are in town. The architecture and scale of building is stunning. Make sure to have a tour of the kitchen (you pay extra) but it’s very informative and it’s a piece of history. To the right as you enter the main patio there is armory that seem to be hidden, inside you will find full armors on display! A nice little surprise. Strongly recommend!

Stunning, absolutely beautiful, and totally worth it! Even if you just see the outside of the castle, it's still beautiful. But there's so so so much more inside and I highly recommend buying the tickets to go inside. There's a ton of rooms you can walk through, and they are so elaborate and elegant, and it's like nothing I've ever seen before. Magnificent castle. Note - there are a lot of rooms that you aren't allowed to take pictures in, so my pictures only show the good rooms. You can't take pictures of the "amazing" rooms!!

I have to say, it was an amazing experience. I am giving it a well-deserved 5-star rating. The palace exudes a captivating atmosphere that transports you to a different era. The grandeur and beauty of the architecture left me in awe. Exploring the different rooms and halls was a treat for history and art enthusiasts like myself. The attention to detail in the decorations and furnishings is impressive. Each room has its own unique charm, and I couldn't help but admire the exquisite craftsmanship. The palace grounds are equally magnificent, offering stunning views and well-maintained gardens. It's a perfect place to take a leisurely stroll and soak in the ambiance. The staff were friendly and helpful, providing valuable information about the palace's history and guiding us throughout our visit. If you have the opportunity to visit Madrid, I highly recommend paying a visit to Palacio de Real Madrid. It's a must-see attraction that will leave you with unforgettable memories. Whether you're interested in history, art, or simply want to appreciate the beauty of this majestic palace, you won't be disappointed.

The exterior of the palace looks more beautiful than the interior. The elegant architecture is befitting to be abode for the royalty. The white palace contrasted by the blue sky creates a stunning atmosphere for photo opportunities. The large open space at the palace exterior helped create a feeling of openness. The visitors are only permitted to visit in a designated route, and photography is not allowed in the majority of the rooms. The information boards are in Spanish and English. I strongly suggest visiting in the morning because the queue and waiting time can be insane in the evening. You may not be able to enter if it is time to close. Bring a debit/credit card for payment. They don't accept cash. Should you visit? Yes, the palace is simply beautiful.

This landmark is a gorgeous place to visit. I would highly recommend purchasing a tour or the audio tour. This is not your typical museum. Each room was more gorgeous than the next but I would have loved to learn a little bit more about what I was looking at. There are some placards with minimal information sprinkled throughout the experience. We bought tickets a head of time which allowed us to skip the line. We did have to wander a bit to figure out where to enter the palace, but eventually found it. Another recommendation I have is to place this a little further into your trip, it is killer to do this much walking when trying to shake the jet lag. We can make our way through a museum pretty efficiently, but this kicked our jet lagged butts! There are no pictures allowed inside most of the areas, but it really is quite breath taking to see these rooms decked out in the most spectacular art and treasures. A highlight was the crown and sceptre. Definitely worth a visit.

COOL ROYAL PALACE, HOWEVER ... If you have a spare few hours, check out the house of the Spanish Royal Family. This palace is huge and even from the outside, it's super-imposing. You could get away with just taking pictures from the outside and through the gate. If you want a tour of the place, please do not queue at the group entrance at the same side as the Opera House, go around to the same side as the Cathedral and queue for tickets there. My advice is to buy tickets in advance to skip this queue. It's a very impressive palace, but please note - photography and videography is forbidden inside the palace itself and security will be quick to jump on you if you do. Overall, a decent experience.

No photos?! Really? The entire “visitor” area of the palace is entirely too short. You can easily spend €15 per head for 30 minutes of looking at some decorated rooms that you can’t take any photos of. Yup. Spend a lot for a quick tour that you can’t even catalog for the future. That makes the royal palace of Spain on par with the red-light district of Amsterdam. In-and-out quick with a feeling a dissatisfaction and you can’t even take photos. Don't get me wrong, the rooms are very well decorated and it's really nice to see, but who can remember it if you CAN'T TAKE PHOTOS? - Honestly unless you just are hard up for something to do in Madrid, I’d skip it. Edit: Before you get into the rooms, they do allow you to take photos in the entry room. Then comes the "NO PHOTO" sign. Yes, all the guards are trying to enforce this. I was able to take some photos as we entered the hall, plus I did sneak one photo inside. Still kind of sucks they don't allow you to take photos inside.

Was able to go WITHOUT A RESERVATION by getting there at 9:15 and waiting until it opened at 10. Plus it's actually cheaper this way since you don't have to pay the extra online booking fees. By 9:45 the line to enter without a reservation was very long, so make sure you get there early. I'd definitely recommend getting here as early as possible, we had several entire rooms to ourselves during the tour. You can't take photos for most of it. Only the entryway and exterior allow photos.

10 euros per person with children under 5 going free. Yes it is free for the last couple of hours in the day but the queues go on for miles and my holiday time is too precious for the time in the queues. Some wonderful opulent rooms in the palace. The throne room was my favourite with the 2 thrones surrounded by golden lions. Example of some of the finest works in Europe in each of the palaces rooms. The most extravagant place I have ever visited. Well worth the visit I will never forget my trip hear.

Beautiful palace at walking distance from the city center. The place is huge but only a limited number of chambers can be visited. The palace is packed with history and is probably one of the most beautiful palaces in Europe. Unfortunately it isn't alowed to take pictures in most of the rooms. Even so, the visit is definitely worth your time.

There's only a limited area where you are allowed to take pictures. This palace is the largest in Europe, and the rooms are just WOW, absolutely breathtaking. The detail, opulence, royalty, and unique design for each is out of this world. Your eyes won't believe what you see, truly breathtaking

Entrance is 13 Euros. Open till 7 PM. Get max around 6 PM, is time enough. Is not allowed to take photos or videos inside the Palace but... Like every 🏰 it's beautiful inside and worth to visit. You can really see the 👑 and the throne.

Monumental building. From the side of the Plaza de España, there is a pleasant garden with fountains, sculptures and clipped greenery. From the front, as always, queues. Not sure if it's worth going there. If you walk through the square to the terrace - a beautiful view of the park opens up.

I'm going to be honest, I didn't go inside but I would if I budgeted better. It's only £12 entry, I'm just here backpacking for a festival. The grounds however were stunning and the view was amazing. The inside is supposed to be stunning and a lot of people's fav palace. My tour guide says he loves documentaries but it took him three trips to get through all the audio guide content. There is tons. Anything and everything you want to know about in there, they have info on it. So good for people who love interior design, architecture, and history. But the outside is stunning. Buy your tickets in advance to skip a long queue.

One of the best Palaces’ in Europe and perhaps the most underrated. The rooms are extremely well kept and dare I say ‘move in ready.’ I found the entire property to be more impressive than Windsor Castle or any of the Palaces In Vienna. The biggest downfall is you cannot take pictures inside the building. I highly recommend a visit.

A must visit when in Madrid. The palace is breathtaking, every single room has it's own charm and there's lots of fun history and symbols all around. If visiting its recommended to get the tour guide as they'll let you know all the fun facts from each item. The views from the outside of the palace are amazing and you'll be able to get great photos. Also, to note, you won't be able to take photos inside.

Well, what should one say? A lot of art and wealth… it’s impressive how things worked long time ago, politics, etc… Art is amazing, a must see in Madrid… It would be great to see lot more in the standard visit, I’m pretty sure that many doors lead to secret places…

Such an incredible place! Room after room filled with paintings, tapestries, luxurious furniture, treasures of all kinds, painted ceilings, and floor-to-ceiling porcelain decorations. The level of detail and craftsmanship is spectacular. We visited during the free admission hours: Monday to Thursday from 4pm to 6pm in winter and from 5pm to 7pm in summer. These two hours are enough to do the whole tour of the palace plus the Royal Armoury. ❗Note: free admission is available to EU and South American citizens, and they ask for your ID at the door. You can check their website for more details. Like other places in Madrid have offer free entry at certain hours, here as well the queue started forming well before that time. There's a dedicated spot marked with a rope where you can start the line so as not to hinder access for those who wish to go in and pay for their visit. Our line was alright reaching the other side of the square 30min before the free admission, so keep that in mind and make sure you come early! ♿ Fully accessible!

It is worthwhile to visit if you are in Madrid. Recommend to buy tickets in advance to beat the line. No pictures after 1st two rooms. Each room has its own cinque theme and style. It is very interesting. We find the audio guide is a mix bag. it provide some historical information, but not much different than reading the English section of the displays in each rooms.

Beyond words!!!!! A must see place in Madrid- history, art, creativity, politics, beauty. No photo policy inside ( in some rooms) so please respect their request, even sounds a bit bitter . It was an amazing immersion in the history of the Royal family and the audio guide( for extra 3 euro) was really helpful and strongly recommended. The Architecture, the paintings and the dinning room are simply amazing .

Absolutely mind blowing place! So so beautiful. Keep in mind no pictures are allowed for the large majority of the visit. I would highly recommend you get the audio guide as it gives good explanation and facts about the rooms. There is a cafe above the gift shop that is nice. Gardens were closed when I went.

I took the option to enter free, between 4-6. The queue was a bit long but it progressed fast. There are two places you can visit inside. A big room with the Royal armoury and an inside tour of the Palace. Luxury items are presented. You can visit them in your own pace. Roughly it would take about an hour to finish both of them. Important notice: no focus are allowed in most of the rooms.

Really beautiful area to walk through. I really recommend coming here when there isn’t rain or clouds ( if you have the choice). It is really well kept. They say it’s the oldest active palace in the world. It’s disappointing that they are doing construction so you do miss some view when you go and visit. But overall it’s stunning.

Absolutely beautiful! Stunning and wildly impressive landmark for the religious and non-religious alike. I'm not a part of the faith of this church, but I felt welcomed to explore and marvel. Quiet rooms for prayer. Lots of hidden nooks of historic significance. This would have been cooler with a tour guide.

Lovely palace with a very rich history. The information signs in the palace are fairly sparse, so I would recommend getting the audio guide or booking a guided tour. Make sure to book the tickets several days in advance as they sell out pretty regularly. There is a luggage control at the entrance, so make sure to leave knives and similar items at home.

The national palace of Madrid is breathtaking. All the rooms are gorgeously decorated. The location is right in the centre of the city. I definitely recommend booking your tickets in advance if you don't want to wait for more than 1h. We saw everything in an hour. The shop by the exit had lots of nice things. If you visit Madrid, definitely come check the palace.

About 14 euro per person if you pay ahead of time. Spent an hour or two in here without doing the guided tour and just the walk through. Really cool to see and read all of the history. I was in awe at each of the rooms (no pictures allows) as they each had their own style and character.

The Royal Palace of Madrid is the official residence of the Spanish royal family at the city of Madrid, although now used only for state ceremonies. The palace has 135,000 m² of floor space and contains 3,418 rooms. It is the largest royal palace in Europe. For me this is one of the most beautiful palace in the world and is definitely a great place for photos. The building is really really big. The area is free, you can walk around the park, stroll along the streets, watch the sunset, have some street foods and just relax on the bench.

A must see place in Madrid. This place takes you back in time and gives you an inside view of the lives of Kings and Queens. The palace is very well maintained and easily accessible. My first advice to you would be to book entry tickets online to avoid long queue. We easily saved around 20 mins this way. They offer audio guide and personalised guide services. However we chose to explore on our own. There are instructions mentioned in English at regular places.

The royal palace of Madrid is absolutely worth the visit. Home to the royal family for many generations prior, you’ll see lots of many rooms and halls being used for tourism now. Unfortunately, you cannot take very many photos of the room themselves but I thought what you see is well worth the visit. The chandeliers and rooms are decorated very well and you also get the chance to see some pretty amazing relics such as a couple of authentic Stradivarius. You also get to see a lot of various gold throne rooms, dining rooms and their china.

Fast facts: 3,418 rooms. 1,450,000 sf. Largest palace in Europe, and one of the largest anywhere. I cannot imagine having the mindset, resources, or the tenacity for such an undertaking, especially considering its 18th Century construction. It is well preserved and maintained, with rather inobtrusive applications of modern comforts (lighting and air conditioning). Well worth the visit.

Cool place but didn't have enough English tourism support. We got lucky that someone else had an English speaking guide that we could eavesdrop on. The palace is huge, but you don't see much of it. Regardless, it's worth it to check out a little bit. You will see references/practice works of the interior paintings in the Prado art museum which is cool.

Visiting and touring the Palacio Real is a must during any visit to Madrid. The exterior of the building is great and absolutely stunning, but the inside matches it and exceeds expectations. Entry tickets are very cheap, especially for students, children, and all eligible for typical EU price deductions, but I believe only 12€ for a normal ticket. While you can’t take pictures past about the second room, that only allows you to experience the space more fully. The chapel, dining room, and several of the rooms were among some of the grandest, most ornate spaces I have EVER entered. They were absolutely breathtaking — rich in Spanish history and impressive both for the time they were constructed and for modern day. Enter the room where Spain officially joined what would become the European Union, read the original coronation speech of the king, then turn around and look at his crown! This was such a special visit. I highly recommend it.

Haven't been inside but from the outside the Royal Palace looks enormous and incredibly beautiful. However, keep in mind that it's almost impossible to buy a ticket physically and it's way better to book online. But still, everything is fully booked for days ahead. There is a park at the back of the Royal Palace it which is free. There are some animals, too. Overall, an amazing but overcrowded place!

We unfortunately went on a day that the King of Spain was at the palace. Today, a big festival/military parade will be on display. So, because royalty was around, the palace was closed and many police prevented exploration of much of the palace grounds. We were able to explore the gardens and we walked around the entire perimeter to also see a chapel. In total, you could walk around both in about 35 minutes if your pace is slow and you take time to enjoy the sights and snap pics. Otherwise, it's maybe a 15-20 minute trek around. We did find a nice Cafe in one section of the gardens, however, service was incredibly poor. I have a review up for them specifically but they do have a great view of the palace. It's incredibly busy here. Expect lots of tourists.

Absolutely gorgeous. For how beautiful the outside of the palace is, you will be amazed once you’re inside. Many of the rooms you can’t take photos in, but they are stunning. Purchasing tickets in advance is highly recommended (as it’s an incredibly shorter line), but not necessary. I also recommend going to the armory in the far corner. Very beautiful!

The exterior of the palace is beautiful, but it has become even better. We were fortunate to be here relatively early because of the short line. After passing the check and cash register, you might feel like before, and walk in the courtyard of the palace. Inside the palace, you can unfortunately not take pictures in certain rooms, but still fantastically look at the powerful art pieces. Unfortunately, we didn't come to the peacocks which were outside.

Worth the visit. First a shout out to the staff. We missed our scheduled time with guided tour due to a 5 hour flight delay. They were very nice and adjusted our tickets so we could join the next tour that same day. Thank you!! Two tips: to walk right in, skip the line, get your tickets ahead of time from the official Patrimonio nacional web site. Be sure it is the official site, many sites offer "skip the line" tickets but you will pay more. You don't need to. The other tip is to opt for the guided tour. This will change the dynamic of your visit 100% for the better. They restrict photography inside most areas so not to many pictures. Enjoy the beautiful palace.

An absolute must-see! Beautiful interior and exterior. Some of the rooms are the most ornate I have ever seen, and many don't even allow you to take pictures in them. We bought tickets in advance. There were two lines: Those with tickets, and those who needed to buy tickets. The ticketed line was significantly shorter and we got in only about 30 minutes after our scheduled time, after standing in line for about an hour.

Lovely to see the history and how lavish the other half lives. Don't see the point in the no photo tile as long as flashes are turned off, hence marked down 2 stars for that. Book in advance to miss the queues and book your time. The rooms were glorious to behold and the art on the ceilings amazing.

The website says free on Thursdays at 5PM in English. Don't waste your time. The website is blatantly wrong as it is not free at 5 but CLOSES at 5. The ticket clerks seem to know this and not only don't care, but were actively hostile towards us trying to show them the website and cause for confusion. Additonally, it is only free if you are an EU citizen, a former victim of Spanish conquistadors (minus Florida or Texas) or are homeless which I don't know how you prove. Half our party didn't bring their passports, and they are the ones who would have been free. Waited in line for an hour for the discount deal the website offered and planned a whole day of a short trip around this tour. We ended up walking out because not only was there no free admission but because they were so rude. Regardless, the bureaucracy and clear resentment towards eager tourists makes this a hard 1 star for an otherwise beautiful city and country. Really awful ambassadors for Spain here. Despite my conviction to not return my group was set to return a few days later and we paid admission. I upgraded the rating to reflect the quality of the experience the second time around. It is 2.5 stars rounded up. Only rounded up for the quality of the craftsmanship of the chest armor done by some poor smith hundreds of years ago. They really had incredible craftsmanship for armor, particular for the child armor that some kid prince wore maybe once. Also, who expects their children to need full combat armor at age 7? What a time to have been alive. Also, it is clear that while Spain once possessed the UFO Orbs of power as depicted in their art, they must have lost those orbs to Napoleon or something and that’s how they feel from favor over time….

It has a beautiful interior and each room has its own story! A must visit when in Madrid P.S. they have guard change twice a week, try to see it if you can

The Royal Palace of Madrid is an architectural marvel and a must-see destination for any visitor to the city. Its stunning design and rich history make it a truly remarkable place. While some of the most beautiful rooms in the palace do not allow photography, visitors are able to capture memories in designated areas throughout the tour.

The Royal Palace of Madrid stands as an architectural marvel, a testament to grandeur and history. My recent visit left me in awe of its majestic beauty, despite the unavoidable inconvenience of a long line. For anyone planning a visit, I recommend arriving early or utilizing time-saving options to make the most of the experience. Despite the inconvenience of the long line, the Royal Palace of Madrid is undoubtedly a must-see destination, a captivating journey through the annals of Spanish royalty that leaves a lasting impression.

The palace is located on the site of a 9th-century Moorish Alcázar, near the town of Magerit, constructed as an outpost by Muhammad I of Córdoba[5] and inherited after 1036 by the independent Moorish Taifa of Toledo. After Madrid fell to King Alfonso VI of Castile in 1083, the edifice was only rarely used by the kings of Castile. In 1329, King Alfonso XI of Castile convened the cortes of Madrid for the first time. King Felipe II moved his court to Madrid in 1561. The Castilian Alcázar was built on the location in the 16th century. After it burned 24 December 1734, King Felipe V ordered a new palace built on the same site. Construction spanned the years 1738 to 1755[6] and followed a Berniniesque design by Filippo Juvarra and Giovanni Battista Sacchetti in cooperation with Ventura Rodríguez, Francesco Sabatini, and Martín Sarmiento. King Carlos III first occupied the new palace in 1764. The last monarch who lived continuously in the palace was King Alfonso XIII, although Manuel Azaña, president of the Second Republic, also inhabited it, making him the last head of state to do so. During that period the palace was known as "Palacio Nacional". There is still a room next to the Real Capilla, which is known by the name "Office of Azaña". The interior of the palace is notable for its wealth of art and the use of many types of fine materials in the construction and the decoration of its rooms. It includes paintings by artists such as Caravaggio, Juan de Flandes, Francisco de Goya, and Velázquez, and frescoes by Giovanni Battista Tiepolo, Corrado Giaquinto, and Anton Raphael Mengs. Other collections of great historical and artistic importance preserved in the building include the Royal Armoury of Madrid, porcelain, watches, furniture, silverware, and the world's only complete Stradivarius string quintet. Beautiful ornate palace that once housed the Spanish Royal family. There are a lot of amazing chandeliers, decorated rooms, and is simply breathtaking. Photos are not allowed in a majority of the rooms, but it is still nice to see. There is also a place to store one's bags for free.

The Royal place of Madrid. The seat of Monarchy that roots in the Hapsburg family of Austria. Steeped in history and symbolism this seat of Spanish monarchy is a marvel of architecture and art. This awe inspiring palace is a stunning experience and is a must visit in Madrid.

A must see when you are in Madrid. The line may look long but goes quickly and worth the wait. The entry is a bit pricey however if you are a teacher and have valid identification you can get in for free. The decore in the palace is unbelievable! Some of the most detailed themed rooms. Also make sure to check the vast collection of past military wears in the royal armoury. Right next door there is the Cathedral with some of the most beautiful ceilings and stain glass decor I have seen in Spain.

The massive size of the Palacio Real is its most imposing feature. Madrid’s Royal Palace boasts more than 2,500 ornately decorated rooms. Built in 1764, the palace served as the royal residence beginning with Carlos III. The last royals to reside there were Alfonso XIII and Victoria Eugenie in the early 1900s. Although the palace is still used for official ceremonies, 50 of the structure’s elegant rooms are open to the public, including an armory, pharmacy and the palace’s lavish throne room, or “Salón del Trono,” which features a ceiling painted by the Baroque artist Tiepolo. A fresco in the grand dining hall depicts Christopher Columbus presenting gifts from the New World to King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella.

A MUST visit if you are in Madrid! Also make sure you buy tickets a few weeks in advance online or it's not a guarantee that you will get in (the lines were huge to buy tickets on Saturday)! Another advice is don't try to sneak in pictures in the no picture areas, security takes that stuff extremely seriously from what we saw. Other than that the place is absolutely beautiful and if you are into history you can learn a lot from here! Don't forget to visit the armory on the way out! It's a little hidden away so most people don't see it, it's across from the place you originally entered in the first courtyard.

  • 5/5 Aditya N. 1 year ago on Google
Magnificent. Seeing the incredible wealth and grandeur - the sheer amount of porcelain and gold and antiques - in every room is amazing. I highly recommend getting the audio guide because it is engaging and explains the history and symbolism behind each part of the palace. It is easy to spend at least three hours here, to appreciate the splendor of the Spanish Empire.

  • 5/5 Travis G. 11 months ago on Google
This was a great visit. We really enjoyed the armory and some of the weaponry used in the past. Unfortunately the main Palace was closed due to official events associated with the holiday. We did the kitchen Tour, and that was worth the money, but be aware it's in Spanish only--each room does have signs in English that explain the purpose of the room. We spent about 2.5 hours in total here and had the main palace been open we likely would have spent much longer. I would absolutely recommend a visit simply based on what we saw.

Jaw dropping!!!. The stark contrast between styles as you walk through the palace rooms is breathtaking. Just the skill of the craftmanship on display is on another level😵 very glad we came to visit as it was definitely worth it.

I visited the Royal palace of Madrid as a guided tour, so there was no waiting in the queue. But coming on your own one has to stand in long queue and should be prepared for it. The personal items of the royals is is on display and interesting to see them. A must visit place.

Incredible detail in everything. The statues, the artifacts, the care and profound appreciation for the art which is this building is incredible. Would 100% recommend the headphones along with the tour, as they give an extra side to the incredible history and wonder of this palace.

  • 5/5 Tomas Z. 9 months ago on Google
Stunning palace with the most amazing ornate rooms which seem to have been individually decorated with different themes. The chandeliers are particularly incredible. I took a guided tour (4€ extra) and while it was interesting to hear about the building it was almost impossible to hear what they were saying most of the time (bad audio equipment and lots of other tours running at the same time). Instead I’d recommend finding an online self guided tour and do it at your own pace. You can’t take photos in quite a lot of the rooms, but it’s clearly marked where you have to put the camera away. It’s also worth visiting the military armour exhibition in one of the wings that’s included in your ticket. Very cool horse armour.

It's a good Palace to visit. Not the most impressive and a little too busy. Wnet early in the morning to join the queue before it opened, and it was still very busy. The cafe was not worth a visit unfortunately and way below in the offerings of other similar properties. Entry to the armoury is included in the ticket price, which wad the highlight of the visit for me.

  • 5/5 Candy T. 7 months ago on Google
What a nice place! We bought the ticket with the guide included and it was phenomenal! The guide was a gentleman who knew a lot of the history of the place and between delicate and perfect jokes kept us interested in all about the palace. Highly recommended.

A royal palace worth visiting, I recommend it. If you want to visit the palace for free, I recommend checking the free visiting hours on the website (currently: August 2023) 5-7pm and set up at least half an hour earlier. We arrived at 4.30pm and waited 50 minutes to get in. During your visit, it is worth visiting the military museum (in the castle grounds), which is located in the left corner of the square from the observation deck - it is easy to miss, but it is really worth a visit.

My visit to the Royal Palace of Madrid was an unforgettable experience. Depending on the time of entry, there may be a queue, but it was truly worth the wait. I was enchanted by the grandeur and magnificence of the palace. The historical details and artistic intricacies were extraordinary. In every room, the craftsmanship of the artisans of that era was on full display. As I wandered through the palace, I felt like I was breathing in the rich history of Spain. The throne room, in particular, captivated me. Here, I could feel the traces of historic events. The elegance of the furniture and the attention to detail further emphasized the significance of the palace. The view from the garden was also worth seeing. Looking out over the rooftops of Madrid from the palace's garden was breathtaking. The time I spent here created a calming and inspiring atmosphere. If you have a passion for history and art, the Royal Palace should definitely be on your list. It's hard to put into words the awe and inspiration I felt during my visit. If you find yourself in Madrid, you absolutely must see this gem.

Absolutely worth the visit! Beautiful both from outside and inside, good to have a logical order of visit and you don't need a tour guide because you're guided by the path anyway and a lot of information on the signs inside. Also the groups spend only 1h inside, if you want to spend more time go alone. Wonderful place, wonderful rooms, don't miss the armoury part too it's so peaceful there and yet spectacular. Total recommendation, was worth standing on 34° for half an hour outside, but those ones with pre-booked tickets stood even longer, yes, it's true.

  • 3/5 Ellie 5 months ago on Google
The palace is stunning! I just don’t understand why it’s forbidden to take pictures in the most of it? Nevertheless, I followed the rules. Some people didn’t and it was such un unpleasant situation because guards take their job seriously. I heard ‘no photo’ being yelled at least 10 times, like please, just don’t do it. 🙄

  • 5/5 Geoff B. 6 months ago on Google
A magnificent Palace close to the Cathedral, so well worth spending half a day to visit both. The Palace has the best Armor, in relation to the fourteenth century onwards, with particular emphasis on the weapons used by the Knights and their horses. We would have been happy to pay the entry fees for that display alone. The Palace has really good displays in every room, ranging from tapestries, silverware, musical instruments (including 3 Stradivarius violins and 2 cellos) and amazing period furniture. You do need to be aware that no photos are allowed to be taken. A great place to spend a relaxing few hours.

A visit to the Royal Palace of Madrid offers a stunning dive into the opulence and rich history of Spain's monarchy. The architecture is breathtaking, and the vast array of rooms displays a variety of historical and artistic eras. A guided tour provides insightful narratives about the monarchy's history and the palace's stunning artifacts. A splendid visit that is both educational and awe-inspiring!

Overall 4.5. I wish they would let us take some pictures of some of the more extravagant looking rooms but I understand. Some of the other tourists make it look so painfully obvious they’re taking pictures, they should learn to turn off the sound. I would definitely recommend this place at least a one time thing. It’s cheap to get in. It’s worth seeing all of that embellished detail.

Buy tickets online to save yourself time from queuing as the queues get long very fast. Beautiful place, but you’re not allowed to take photos of the interior rooms which are very luxurious. I think getting an audio guide would have enriched my experience, but if you don’t have much time, getting the basic ticket would do.

Massive palace. Strongly recommend you buy tickets online and in advance. The English guided tour has limited availability and a more efficient use of time. You can also use the audio guide if you want to really slowly go through each of the rooms in the palace - they will give you a tablet with headphones.

We went last Monday to visit and its definitely worth it. If you’re interested in learning more about the monarchy of Spain and its history, that’s the right place to go. Tickets are very cheap and you can buy it on site; we got lucky that we had no issues with waiting in line, but when we left the palace in the middle of the afternoon, there was a long line out the doors. The only problem we encountered was the lack of proper signage on where to take photos or not, and the guards were definitely not friendly. We entered a room and a lot of people were taking pictures and security was paying no attention and on his phone. As there was no signage around we thought to be okay taking pictures and he started yelling at us. Also, unless you really want to spend some money, the cheapest souvenirs are very bland and no proper identification that you got it at the royal palace (unless you want to keep it in the package forever).

Lovely Palace as you'd expect. Tour is fairly short about and hour or so. Make sure you head down to the armoury after the main Palace. Also book your tickets online to avoid the longer queue.

Stunning place! I took a self-guided tour, you can rent audio tour so you can learn more about each space or you can opt in for reading the information provided in each room. I recommend buying the tickets in advance! There was a long line to buy the tickets. 100% worthy to visit when in Madrid. I
