Awesome location, I found it from a photo shoot I did with some friends of mine from the area. The place is really a hidden gem so don't let the paid parking scare you off. I've only been during the winter but the beauty of the park still resonates. The trails are decently long but are very interesting to walk. A mansion used in multiple movies such as shutter Island, ghostbusters etc. Is also on the grounds. My favorite part of the whole experience is the little cabin next to the lake with a fire place that's usually lit for visitors to keep warm at. Beautiful spot and I shall definitely be back!

A great place to walk and exercise. Very dog and horse friendly. Lots of mosquitoes and ticks. Many people fish here too. Not sure what they catch if anything. No boating allowed. They have many picnic tables and occasionally hold local historic events. Only public restrooms are in the ranger station. Wear comfy shoes as the trails are very uneven, and unpaved. Not wheelchair friendly

This is a really, really beautiful place for families, groups, friends, kids and even pets. The Lake has a sprawling ecosystem. There are birds and chipmunks all around, and we even saw turtles and snakes (non-poisonous ones)! The foliage during fall is breathtakingly beautiful. One can do fishing, hiking, cycling, even picnic on the benches and tables. The Ames mansion looks great from outside, but we did not do the tour. Plenty of parking, $5 for MA plates. We paid parking via credit card at the lot, but you can use the app mentioned on their website, too. Restrooms are available near the parking lot.

Will definitely go back, great paths from easy around the pond to more rocky through boulders. Fun and relaxing.

The Borderland State Park is the best state park I've visited. One of my friends looked it up and decided we should spend the afternoon there. I found out that it was the estate of famed sportswriter George Plimpton's grandparents, Oakes Ames and Blanche Ames, both of who were children of state governors, Massachusetts and Mississippi, respectively. The original mansion is there. Gorgeous landscaping, of course, since this was a rich family estate. Many hiking trails and there is a lively pond. My friend got a parking pass from her local library which enabled her to park for free. The employee at the visitor center was very helpful and patient, both on the phone and in person.

Really lame that there is a parking fee. I would probably go every day to exercise based on its close proximity to me but a $60 annual parking pass is not worth it.. Its a simple walk in the woods around a big dirty pond. There are a lot of trails and there is a lot of nature to see but its not much more than walking in any other wooded area. I dont care for frisbee golf or the stone mansion. I would give five stars if it were more accessible to the public. There also apprears to be some nice fishing spots.

Great state park for walking and sightseeing. Highlights include experiencing the Ames Estate and its architectural history, taking a long walk through woodland sections of the park, and relaxing by the pond afterward. Well preserved. Easy parking. Low admission price. Wish my state had something as nice! Thank you, Borderland park rangers!

We had a great time going for a walk around the pond walk loop. Plenty of benches and picnic tables to rest tired legs at and stop for snacking. We spotted fish in the Upper Leach Pond area. Near the Smith Farm House we spotted many turtles and frogs, including a rather large and curious snapping turtle. Many of the flowers and flowering trees are in full bloom.

Totally nice and spacious place to go visit. Very nice scenscapes and places to explore. Not to keen on the parking prices especially the twenty dollars my friends from out of state would have to pay if they went here, that's ludicrous!!! A car is just a car, what difference does it make where it's from?? Does Massachusetts not want out of sate people to enjoy the parks?!?! Other than that we'll worht the visit.

Beautiful park with so much to offer! Well kept, quiet and pretty trails. There is a large open area with picnic tables, another area with the historic Ames Mansion, and trails through the woods and pond. Also, disc golf course!

Borderland State Park is a great place to take a walk (or to walk your dog). There were very few people on a nice and sunny July day. We even saw some deer! Highly recommended!

Not worth paying for parking. Plenty of other trails in NH that are much more beautiful and free.

Great place for a walk. The pond trail is nice and wide and the vista is incredible on an autumn day. Also ventured off on some of the other trails, such as the ridge and quarry loop, saw a deer. Very peaceful park, albeit it was a Thursday and overcast, but makes for nice pictures.

I absolutely love this place. The trails are fantastic. There are some massive boulders that make up parts of the trails or create walls alongside trails. I love the ridge trail, I've hiked it at least three times. In colder weather there's a fire in the fireplace of a stone house along the pond walk trail. This is a must visit for anyone who loves hiking and nature.

This Park was extraordinary. One moment you are walking in a fern filled forest, the next near a stunning lake croaking with frogs. Then you make a turn and are strolling down a lane with large canopy above and a spit rail fence on either side. This property has all the different wonders of found in landscape all in walking distance from one another.

Nice green place, there a walking track, a pond, great for pictures, pretty busy on weekends and $5 fo parking

  • 3/5 Han C. 3 years ago on Google
A beautiful park with well maintained trails. Ufortunately, there are too many people, parking is hard to find on weekends, and zero bathroom facility which make it less desirable.

It was a nice hike. People was riding bycycle on trails too. Sometimes all trails app didn't work but it wasn't difficult to find the way even though I got little bit lost.

Perfect place for a solid walk in nature - and to bring your dog. There’s variety in the different paths along with a frisbee golf course that doesn’t interfere with the other trails.

Always so breathing. Pay to park on an app, and gates will close with your car still in so you need to make sure you are out by the posted times (autumn/winter around 4p.m and summer/spring 8p.m). A bunch of different trails to take. My favorite one follows a path around the pond. They even have a little hut for bird watching too.

  • 5/5 Josh N. 7 months ago on Google
This is my favorite spot for hiking. Also has 3 ponds for fishing, and a Frisbee golf course. It also contains an off leash unfenced wide open field for dogs. Beautiful open field walking and trail hikes through wooded areas on ponds edge will keep you entertained.

Very picturesque and nice hiking trails. Close to Boston and a great place to try to get in some nature time. Lots of little romantic spots, and once the foliage is in full color, there will be some spectacular vistas. Regardless whether it is for a few hours or a full day, Borderland State Park is worth the detour.

Borderland Park has a beautiful sprawling set of trails around the pond with lots of small overlooks with benches. The trails and facilities are well maintained, wonderful place to hike with the family and also great for leashed dogs. All day parking is $5.

Great park for a number of reasons and because of that it can get very very crowded to the point where the parking lot fills up quick by mid day.

  • 5/5 Jeremy K. 3 years ago on Google
Fantastic state park that's beautifully maintained. They charge $5 to park and there's many different trails available, some very long. Leach Pond is stunning and the Ames Mansion is also quite beautiful. It can get crowded and there's plenty of people riding bikes, walking their pups and picnicking on the grounds. There's a decent amount of parking as well. Very pleased with my experience in this park.

My favorite state park to take the pup to and it's my pups favorite state park. I love how clearly marked the trails are and how well maintained they are and the pup looooves the off leash dog park. Walking around you will also see a ton of wild life. It's a really great place to get out into nature.

Mid Day on a holiday the parking lot was crazy full. Parking meter broke. But we got a spot and didn't have to pay. We picnicked in the shade with plenty of space for distancing.

This park is so beautiful and is always so clean and well run and the trails and the open spaces are the best to hike or to throw a frisbee.

  • 5/5 Randy C. 3 years ago on Google
I think it is the ideal place for a walk through the woods with a dog or a friend. Mansion, fields, ponds, and some granite cliffs and boulders. It has alittle bit of everything.
