👍👍 500 alligators. Up to 20 feet long. There were so many lining the lake shore I thought they were sediment control black tires at first. We were safe on the elevated walkway. Creepy signs warning us to be outta there by dark (when they eat) and for good reason. I will never forget this place. If I ha...

👍👍 This address won’t get you to the parking lot. Use the address to Pithlachocco Lake Sparrow trail or West Hiking trail to park and also get on the trail. The former leads to the lake. The latter offers a impressive forest view. We enjoyed our time there.

👍👍 Great place to park and ride the Nature Coast Trail. Bathrooms with running water. Two shaded gazebos. And you can even check out the first Chiefland jail house on site. We almost missed it, it’s back in the corner of the property.

👍👍 The waking trails are narrow and filled with huge palmento trees and other vegetation. There is a concrete road and if you turn left, and walk about a quarter of a mile, you'll find a bench looking out at the St.Johns river. Refillable water bottle station available. Thank you.

👍 I've hiked these trails several times. Most all are considered level 1 hiking. Mostly flat, wide and sandy trails with the exception of the ones closer to Black Creek. The ones closest to the water are gravel with minimal inclines. Would be a good place for beginners and nice place to take your hors...
