The day we visited the staff was so helpful and friendly and took animals out for us to (gently) pet. This is not a zoo so dont expect large animals but there are plenty of amphibians...

👍 This well-maintained park is a great spot to watch waterfowl and photograph nature shots. The paved footpath around the lake is short but scenic.

👍👍 I really like the playground here. I feel it has more things to climb on and do than your average park playground. There are 2 playground apparatuses. One for smaller kids and the other for say age 5 and up, but my 2 year old loves both. If you have young children you can't go wrong here.

😠 This is one of the worst preserves in Nassau County. If you're looking for forest, there is a bike path next to the Wantagh State Parkway between Jerusalem Ave and Sunrise Highway that is infinitely better. So is the Massapequa Preserve.
